Creative Printing at Wicken Fen

Why not write to your friends using your own handmade stationary designed and printed at Wicken Fen?

Cambridge based artist, Yvonne Barnet will be leading a one day Printing with Plants workshop at Wicken Fen on Saturday 10 October, teaching a range of basic printing techniques using a converted mangle as a printing press, to create a unique range of designs from foliage, flowers and seeds gathered from the fen.

After gathering material from the fen, the morning will be spent creating a range of decorated card and paper. In the afternoon, Yvonne will demonstrate a range of card making techniques. By the end of the course participants should have produced their very own range of cards, envelopes and a printed card wallet to store their unique stationary.

Yvonne trained in Fine Art, specialising in printmaking and has taught in adult education in the Cambridge area for the past ten years.

"Plant prints are surprisingly detailed yet technically simple to achieve so the course is suitable for beginners and those with a little experience of print making … all you need is a creative mind and an apron or old clothes," says Yvonne.
