Enjoy an Egg-Tastic Family Easter at Wicken Fen

An egg-tastic Easter is promised at Wicken Fen with a host of events and activities to keep the whole family amused over the Easter holidays.

The Great Wicken Fen Easter Egg Trail runs from Good Friday through to Easter Monday. All participants in the Easter Egg Trail will receive an Easter egg kindly sponsored by Cadbury's. There will also be free face painting on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

There are plenty of fun activities and events planned for the school holidays so children can explore and enjoy the great outdoors.

Pond Dipping - Tuesdays & Thursdays 6,8,13 and 15 April
Everyone's favourite pastime - discover what lives in the deep dark watery depths of Wicken Fen.

Fairies, Pixies and Trolls - Wednesday 7 April
Make spells and hunt for slimy boggles!

Springtime Arts & Crafts - Friday 9 April
Create a unique masterpiece from natural materials found on the fen.

Hideous Histories - Monday 12 April
Delve into the past and discover life as a soldier of Hereward the Wake and what it takes to be a Fen Tiger.

Wildlife Detectives - Wednesday 14 April
Hunt for clues to discover the amazing wildlife which lives at Wicken Fen.

Fen Pirate Fun - Friday 16 April
Search for hidden treasure, hunt sea monsters and create some swashbuckling craft.

If you over indulge on chocolate over Easter why not burn off those extra calories with a walk around beautiful Wicken Fen. The reserve offers a variety of walks and self guided trails designed to cater for all ages and ranges of mobility. Popular trails and walks include:-

The Boardwalk Trail - A¾ mile circular path through the ancient undrained Sedge Fen, a unique remnant of the fen landscape which once covered much of East Anglia. The raised boardwalk is ideal for visitors using wheelchairs or pushchairs.

The Nature Trail - A 2¼ mile in-depth look at the ancient Sedge Fen, a unique wilderness rich in wildlife.

The Adventurer's Trail - A 2¾ mile exploration of Adventurers' Fen, a chance to view Wicken Fen's amazing birdlife from hides overlooking reedbed, marsh and mere.

The Viridor Credits Walk - A 7 mile exploration of the Vision lands around Burwell Fen and Hurdle Hall.
