Learn how to catch eels at Wicken Fen Peter Carter, the last known traditional eel catcher and working fenman will be giving a unique in-sight into his century's old profession at Wicken Fen on Sunday 18 September. Participants on Peter's Fenman's Day will get the opportunity to make and set their own eel traps and try some of the delicious eels caught by Peter. He will also be giving a demonstration of harmless wildfowling using a punt gun made in the early 19th century. The large barred gun, which is to heavy for a man to hold was fired from a punt and was so lethal that it was capable of killing over 50 ducks with a single shot.
