Press Release

Wicken Fen Halloween Spooktacular

It's dark - the mist is swirling over Wicken's ancient Sedge Fen - overhead an owl hoots and in the distance a haunting barking sound - is it a muntjac or fox? - Or could it be the feared Black Shuck !!!

Are you brave enough to for the Wicken Fen Halloween ghost walk?

Tales abound in local villages of fenman who ventured onto the fen at night never to to be seen again. Were they swallowed up by the marshy fens or were they taken by Black Shuck, a gigantic black dog said to belong to the Viking God, Odin, who stalks the fen at night looking for lone walkers.

The Wicken Fen Halloween Ghost Walk on Saturday 31 October will follow the all weather boardwalk which will be lit by pumpkin lanterns through woods out into the heart of the ancient Sedge Fen - who knows what or who maybe lurking in the dark misty fen!

For Children on Friday 30 October, there's Batty Halloween, a chance for children to dress up in their spookiest outfit, listen to some spooky stories in the haunted fen cottage and have fun playing traditional Halloween games like apple bobbing.

bulletBatty Halloween (4-10 years) Friday 30 October, 1030 -1230 & 1400 -1600 £4.50.
bulletHalloween Ghost Walk (7 years plus please) timed tickets from 1830 £5.
