Summer Fun at Wicken Fen

An action packed August is promised at Wicken Fen with lots of fun packed events for youngsters (and adults) to enjoy during the school holidays

Den Building
Monday 1 & Wednesday 17 August (Under 7s)
Discover how animals use camouflage to hide - design your own camouflage and build a secret shelter on the fen.

Wild Boutique
Wednesday 3, Friday 19 & Wednesday 31 August (7-12 yrs)
Use natural materials to make jewellery, head dress and masks. Make natural beauty products from plants.

Summertime Arts & Crafts
Friday 5 & Monday 15 August (Any age)
Create a masterpiece with natural materials gathered on the fen.

Fairies and Pixies
Monday 8 & Wednesday 24 August (3-6 yrs)
Dress up as a fairy -search for fairies and their treasure on their fen - make fairy charms, souvenirs and scary troll masks.

Wicken Warriors
Wednesday 10 & Friday 26 (7 -12 yrs)
A chance to hone your tracking skills, practice wildlife detection and play some wild games.

Mud Glorious Mud
Friday 12 August & Monday (Any age)
The perfect chance to get really dirty! - Explore the finer qualities of mud for throwing, painting and building.

Each event runs from 10.30-12.30 or 2-4pm and costs £4.50 per child.

Pond Dipping for All
Every Tuesday from 2 - 30 August
Enjoy 30 minutes pond dipping with Wicken's wildlife experts on hand to help identify what's in your net. After pond dipping there's a chance to go minibeast hunting.
Pond Dipping £1.50, Minibeast Hunt 75p -timed tickets from 10.30am

Stand-up Paddleboarding
Every Wednesday from 3 - 31 August
Take to the water for a one hour introductory paddleboarding session with qualified instructors from the Fen Paddle Company.
Children £10 Adults £15 (Minimum height requirement of 1.40m)

Dragonfly Safaris
Saturday 27 - Monday 29 August, 11 am & 2.30pm
Find out all about the amazing life cycle of Wicken's dragon and damselflies with experts from the Dragonfly Project.
Children £5 Adults £8.50

2. Wicken Fen Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 10am-5pm. Entry is free to National Trust members and under 5's. Adults £5.99, children £2.99, family ticket £14.99 (two adults and up to 3 children).
