Wicken Fen - The Perfect World Cup Escape

If the tension of the World Cup is getting too much or you want to escape from football altogether the National Trust has the perfect answer - A Midsummer Boat Trip and BBQ at Wicken Fen.

Next Friday evening(June 18) instead of enduring a stomach churning nail biting evening in front of the telly as Rooney and Co. take on the might of Algeria in a must win fixture why not escape to beautiful Wicken Fen for a football free evening in the countryside.

As a perfect football antidote enjoy a peaceful trip in Wicken's traditional fen lighter along Wicken Lode followed by a delicious BBQ of Wicken reared meats and seasonal salads.

"Wicken Fen is the perfect place for those who want to escape the World Cup" says Visitor Services Manager, Isobel Sedgwick, "What could be better than a warm summers evening in the countryside with the wonderful sights and sounds of nature all around you?"

Tickets for Wicken Fen's Midsummer Boat Trip and BBQ (adults £18, child £15) are available from the Wicken Fen Visitor Centre on 01353 720274.
