Visiting the Wicken Fen

OPENING HOURS: The fen is open all year round from dawn to dusk except for December 25th. Some paths may be closed in very wet weather.

The Visitor Centre is open daily from 10am to 5pm, (Tuesdays – Sundays) except for December 25th. The centre is occasionally closed during winter, so please check before your visit.

The Cafe is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 4.30pm,March until June, and October, 10.30am to 5pm July to September, and at weekends 10.30am – 4.00pm, November to February.

The Fen Cottage and Garden is open April to October on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 2pm to 5pm, and some other days during summer.

Disabled Access: the Visitor Centre is accessible, as are the raised boardwalk and adapted bird hides. There is limited access to the Fen Cottage, by arrangement with the Visitor Centre staff. Close parking can be arranged by contacting the Visitor Centre staff.

Dogs are welcome on the fen, but must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the Fen Cottage.

VISITOR CENTRE FACILITIES: The Visitor Centre features a permanent exhibition of information about Wicken Fen, its history and ecological importance. Books, gifts and refreshments are on sale in the centre. Visitor Centre staff can help you with your questions, and advise you on what to look for and how to record your sightings.
