Wicken Fen may look like an untouched landscape, but it only looks like it does because of the hand of man over the centuries. Generations of locals have worked the fens for sedge, reed and peat and in doing so have created this unique landscape so rich in wildlife and history.

The National Trust now carries on this vital work to preserve this rare landscape and create new habitats as we expand the nature reserve. We are so aware that we must look after what has been preserved and yet respond to how we need to develop Wicken Fen as we go into the future.

We very much value the support of our members, volunteers and the local community. If you would like to find out more, volunteer, take part in one of our events, or contribute towards Wicken Fen’s future, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
